A behind-the-scenes look at Lemon Learning's 2023 annual team building retreat in Deauville, Normandy — OKR sessions, outdoor activities, and team bonding.
Want to know what it's like to work at Lemon Learning? Here's a quick recap of our third annual team building retreat. This year, our office and remote teams traveled to Deauville, in the picturesque region of Normandy. Our annual gatherings bring the whole team together to assess progress and collaboratively shape new objectives. Given our commitment to full remote and hybrid opportunities, strengthening teamwork and collaboration between teams is always a priority. Here's a breakdown of how we spent the two days.
8:30 a.m., Coach to Deauville: An early start with coffees in hand, heading toward the coastal town of Deauville.
11:00 a.m., Hotel check-in: This year, we stayed at Les Jardins de Deauville. First priority on arrival: a BBQ lunch and a welcome speech from our CEO.
2:00 p.m., Brainstorming session: After a short break, we got the brainstorming session underway. Defining our OKRs as a team and aligning on a shared vision for the quarters ahead is a key part of every retreat.
4:00 p.m., Physical activities: Team members chose from a selection of outdoor activities including adventure climbing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and water parkour.
8:00 p.m., Dinner and festivities: Following a gourmet dinner under the stars, the evening wound down with a costume party and open bar, a great chance to relax and connect across teams.
The final morning was a chance to socialize and recover with tennis, ping pong, swimming, and pétanque.
12:30 p.m., Group photos and lunch: Thanks to our remote-friendly culture, having the entire team in one place at the same time is rare. Since last year's retreat, we've welcomed many new faces.
2:00 p.m., Afternoon at the lake: Activities continued with a refreshing swim in the lake, an enthusiastic game of mini-golf, and well-earned naps in the sun.
