The problem

Legacy tools aren't going anywhere. But training costs are piling up.

Applications with no built-in help mean the same questions, the same errors, the same support tickets, day after day.

Support teams saturated

Your most experienced people lose a third of their time to the same basic questions, "How do I post a goods receipt?", "Where is this menu?", knowledge that belongs in the tool itself.

Onboarding that takes months

New hires train on 100 features and use 10. Six months later they've forgotten the rest. The learning curve on legacy tools is steep, and it doesn't have to be.

Critical knowledge walking out the door

Two or three people really know how the tool works. When they leave, the workarounds, the field rules and the undocumented steps leave with them.

Migration isn't the answer (yet)

Replacing the system is a 3 to 5 year project, a major budget and a huge risk. Meanwhile your teams use the tool every day. The adoption problem is real, and it's now.

The solution

Bring the help inside the tool. Not in a manual. Not in a training room.

Lemon overlays contextual guidance on top of your existing desktop application. Your tool stays exactly as it is, and users get step-by-step help right when they need it.

Contextual, not generic

Guidance appears based on where the user is: the right information, at the right step, anchored to the exact button or field. Not a help menu. Not a PDF. Right there.

Your L&D team, fully autonomous

No developer, no vendor, no waiting. Your training or operations experts record actions and publish in minutes. The shortcuts only two people know? Captured once, available to everyone.

Fewer tickets. Faster ramp-up.

Users who find help inside the tool stop calling support, and guided new hires reach autonomy faster. The same tool, measurably better adoption, with numbers for your CFO.

How it works

Three steps. Your tool stays exactly as it is.

Lemon runs alongside your application: nothing installed in your software, nothing to change for IT. Users just see a small widget on their screen, always there, never in the way.

Compatibility

Web, desktop, legacy: Lemon runs on it.

For IT teams

Designed to make IT say yes.

We know deployment projects involving legacy systems go through scrutiny. Here's what your IT team needs to know.

Standard installation

Lemon is deployed as a standard desktop application, using whatever distribution method your IT team already uses. No special infrastructure required.

Non-intrusive by design

Lemon sits on top of the application window. It does not modify your software, access its database, or interfere with existing processes. Your tool works exactly as before.

SSO supported

Single Sign-On is available for both the player and the editor. Users authenticate with their existing enterprise credentials. No separate account management.

Enterprise-grade security

Lemon Learning is deployed at over 200 enterprise customers across regulated industries. We are happy to provide security documentation and answer your InfoSec team's questions directly.

Frequently asked

Desktop applications FAQs.

Does Lemon work on our specific legacy application? +

If it runs on Windows and has a visible user interface, there's a very good chance Lemon works with it. The best way to find out is to show us a screenshot, we'll give you a straight answer in one conversation. We've deployed on everything from well-known ERP systems to tools built entirely in-house.

Do we need to modify our application or involve the software vendor? +

No. Lemon runs alongside your application, not inside it. Nothing is installed in your software, no source code changes, no vendor contact needed. Your IT team deploys Lemon as they would any standard desktop application. The existing software is completely untouched.

Who creates the guides? Does it require technical skills? +

No technical skills needed. Your L&D team, process owners, or any subject-matter expert creates guides using the Lemon desktop editor, the same no-code editor used for web applications. They open it alongside the application, record the steps, add tooltips or messages, and publish. Most users are productive in under 3 hours.

We're migrating to a new system in 2–3 years. Is it worth starting now? +

Yes. Your teams will use the current tool every day, until then that's a lot of avoidable support tickets, onboarding friction, and wasted time. Beyond that, the process documentation you build in Lemon becomes invaluable input for the migration: you'll know exactly how current workflows run before redesigning them.

Is Lemon GDPR compliant? Where is data hosted? +

Yes. Lemon is GDPR-compliant by design, hosted in Europe, with no exposure to the US Cloud Act. Particularly relevant for desktop deployments in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and the public sector.

How long before users see their first guides? +

The technical setup is fast. The timeline is driven by content creation — how quickly your team records priority processes. In practice, most projects have first guides live within two weeks. Start with the five most-asked questions and build from there.
